As we grow older, both men and women can experience the effects of hormonal imbalance. For women, it often presents in sleepless nights, loss of energy, and possible weight gain.
Our Hormone Balancing program here at ThinWorks will help you determine what you need to get your body back into a state of equilibrium. It can also be a great help if you haven’t been able to pinpoint why you continue to gain weight or put weight back on.

When estrogen is out of balance it causes night sweats, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, anxiety, and even depression. Many women don’t know that these symptoms are not always caused by a deficiency, rather fluctuating levels of estrogen. Our therapy helps maintain this balance to drastically decrease, and in most cases eliminate these symptoms.
Often considered to be the most important in men, testosterone also plays an important role in a woman’s hormone balance. After the age of thirty, testosterone production decreases gradually, creating symptoms such as loss of libido, weight gain, mental fogginess, and loss of energy. In women who have had a hysterectomy, testosterone levels drop by one-half almost immediately after the surgery.
Progesterone deficiency can cause difficulty sleeping, hair loss, water retention, and depression. This hormone is commonly prescribed along with estrogen to protect the uterus.
Andropause, also known as Male Menopause, is a syndrome in aging men that has physical, sexual, and psychological symptoms. Because of its very gradual onset, men don’t typically recognize the symptoms of testosterone deficiency until it affects their sex life, body, and energy levels. Often, the symptoms are mistaken for other health problems.
Many men over 40 struggle to lose weight and keep it off, which can also be an indication of a testosterone imbalance. Testosterone levels begin to decline at a rate of 1% per year after age 30, and it’s estimated that 39% of men over age 45 have testosterone levels below normal levels.
ThinWorks offers Bioidentical Hormone Balancing via Pellet Therapy, which is used to drastically reduce or eliminate the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause in women, and low testosterone in men.
Pellet Therapy is a well-documented method of delivering bioidentical hormones through small, compounded pellets about the size of a grain of rice. The pellets are painlessly inserted during an in-office procedure under the skin of the lateral buttocks. It only takes a few short minutes, with no down time, and you’re able to carry on with life’s normal activities immediately after the procedure.
The pellets last 3-4 month for women and 5-6 months for men, making them a convenient long-term solution for hormone therapy, with steady levels during that time. This means you can enjoy your life without needing an injection, cream, pill or weekly or daily like most other therapies!
In addition to pellets for testosterone therapy, men also have the option of intramuscular injections, which are administered in the lateral buttocks.
Although pellets are a convenient and long-term solution for the delivery of testosterone, some men prefer to come in for an injection, despite more frequent office visits. And while both forms of therapy will effectively bring testosterone levels up to the right therapeutic range, injections tend to produce a quicker and more noticeable increase in levels.
However, they don’t last as long and need to be repeated every two weeks. They produce a more noticeable increase in the original low T symptoms if 3 or 4 or more weeks have gone by since the last shot. Really though, neither method of administering testosterone is “better” than the other – it is merely a matter of preference.
Despite more frequent office visits, the appointments are very short and can be conveniently scheduled any time during our hours of operation. For more information, you can talk to one of our coaches to better understand the pros and cons of each and decide which option is best for you.
