Easy Ways to Sneak Exercise into Your Day
Exercising on a regular basis has many benefits. It can help you lose weight, boost your mood, relieve stress and help you to sleep better. It is recommended to get a minimum of 150 minutes of exercise a week (20 minutes a day), but sometimes it can be tough to find the time to exercise daily. Here are a few ways to sneak exercise into your day.
Take the Scenic Route:
Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park a little further way or ride your bike instead of driving.
Deskercise:
Just because you are stuck behind a desk all day doesn't mean you have to stay still. Keep a few hand weights around to do bicep curls or overhead curls while catching up on your morning emails.
Use Your Lunch Hour:
Rather than eat at your desk or in the lunchroom, take a walk, go to the gym or run errands to get you moving during your lunch break.
Talk rather than email your co-workers:
When possible why not get up and have a conversation with your co-workers instead of emailing, calling or messaging them.
Set a Movement Alarm:
If you sit still for long periods of time set the alarm on your phone to remind you to get up at least once an hour to move for a few minutes. Those few minutes really start to add up.
Walk around the house:
Doing housework can be a great way to burn some calories. Vacuuming, sweeping, and dusting are all great ways to move while keeping the house clean.
Move During TV Time:
Set up a treadmill or stationary bike in front of your TV so you can get moving during episodes of your favorite shows. You could also clear some space and do some weight training or floor exercises.
